iPad Case Review: iPad Suede Jacket

Suede Jacket Sleeve from Waterfield DesignsThe iPad Suede Jacket from Waterfield Designs isn’t so much a case as it is a sleeve. All Waterfield bags and cases are made in San Francisco, hence the SFBags website URL.

The sleeve is made of material that Waterfield calls “ultrasuede”. The black suede sleeves has loops on the side and bottom to make it easier to slide the iPad in and out of the case. The material is nice a soft and can double as a screen cleaning cloth for the iPad. Of course, you’ll want to make sure no grit or dirt in on the material to avoid scratching the screen.

The sleeve provides protection against dirt, smudges and scratches, but since it’s cloth there’s no real protection against dropping it.

The sleeve is available in two forms. The $19 version is the basic sleeve, while the $25 version adds a pocket for earbuds, a mifi or other small objects. Since the sleeves are flexible and light shipping by first class mail is only $2.

If you’ve got any sewing skills you could create a similar sleeve for less cost, but the iPad Suede Jacket is well made and serves its purpose.
